Matze was born in 1978 in Germany. He recorded his first CD at the age of 17 and played as a supporting act of Bands like Crematory and Blind Guardian. The band Jezebel's Tower peaked the charts for no less than seven times and got 89 points in the biggest heavy magazine 'burrn'.
He studied guitar at the Munich Guitar Institute and the L.A.MusicAcademy. His musical instructors were guys like Frank Gambale (Chick Korea), Jeff Richman (Manhattan Transfer), Steve Fister, Dave Hill, Bill Fowler, Brad Rabuchin (Ray Charles) & Wolfgang Zenk (Sieges Even). He played workshops with Harald Kuempfel (Bullyparade) & Philip Bynoe (Steve Vai).
Right now Matze is playing in the prog-metalband 'snailworks' and playing clinics for different companies around the globe (NAMM and Musikmesse as well). During his clinics he played sessions with Robbee Mariano (Xavier Naidoo), Magnus Rosen (Hammerfall) & Mark Meadows (Dweezil Zappa).
